What is the Vagus Nerve?
If you’ve never heard of the vagal nerves or vagus nerve stimulation, you’re missing out on a key part of helping to manage your nervous system and stress.
The Vagal Nerves extend from the brainstem to the the lower belly. It plays an important role in regulating the Parasympathetic Nervous System, which controls things like heart rate, digestion, breathing & many other functions in the body. Your parasympathetic nervous system controls “rest and digest” functions. When that isn’t properly regulated, that’s when you end up with the opposite response, “fight or flight.”
Being stuck in “fight or flight” can lead to a number of issues. While there are lots of options to help stimulate the vagal nerves, we’re big fans of regular chiropractic adjustments and adding on Vagus Nerve. It can help your body decrease inflammation and adapt to stress.
