Is your child stuck in fight or flight?
It is research evidence that if someone is diagnosed with 1 autoimmune disorder, they will most likely be diagnosed with a 2nd within 10 years. At the age of 34, I had 6 autoimmune disorders attached to my chart + Chronic Lyme identified. The diagnosis list kept growing and so did the symptoms that I was experiencing.
When your body is sensing it is in danger, this is what triggers the “fight or flight” mechanism. Initially this is a good thing when confronted with stress, because this is your body’s way of trying to protect you. But if it’s constant, you can find yourself stuck in the “fight or flight” response.
This can cause your whole body to respond with increased inflammation and wear out your resources & make you more susceptible to viruses, bacteria and pain.
WHAT causes stress to the body? Here at The Chiropractic Place, we believe there are the 7 “T” stressors of the body.
1. Trauma
2. Toxins
3. Thoughts
4. Technology
5. Tethered
6. Terrain
7. Truth
This was a hard pill for me to swallow knowing that the amount of stress I was experiencing in my everyday life wasn’t going to go anywhere. Therefore, I needed to find a way to make my body more resilient.
This is a big part of why I became a Doctor of Chiropractic and why the rest of our ladies did, too. When you get a chiropractic adjustment in the top part of the neck, sacrum or cranial work done, it helps to put the body more into a parasympathetic state. The parasympathetic is known as the “rest-digest-heal” part of your nervous system. - Dr. Michelle Parker
